Fans of gospel music won’t want to miss the world famous Blackwoods appearing daily in Pigeon Forge at the Hatfield and McCoy Dinner Theater.
The storied history of the Blackwood family goes back more than a century when the family first began playing as a string band in 1899. In the decades to come, the descendants of the original string band began to perform at venues across the southeast.
Over the decades the Blackwood family has continued to inspire and entertain with their music and the story of their iconic family. Various incarnations of the group have appeared over the decades as older members left the band and younger members of the family stepped up to take their place.
The Blackwood Family Country Jamboree is a breakfast show featuring country and gospel music and lighthearted comedy. The story of the family is narrated on video before the show by long-time family friend and country music legend Charlie Daniels.
The show is a stroll down memory lane as the Blackwoods perform many of the old favorite gospel tunes that have won them accolades and international acclaim. Over the years the Blackwoods have won Grammy Awards and Dove awards as well as being inducted into the Southern Gospel Music Hall of Fame.
The current line-up appearing at the breakfast show includes R.W. Blackwood who recounts fond childhood memories of touring with an up and coming Elvis Presley. Presley later gave the Blackwoods a tour bus that now sits on display at Dollywood.
Rounding out the line-up is Donna Blackwood, wife of R.W., Brad Smith, Craig Hodges, Karen Tillery and Jonathan Kunkle.
Along with gospel favorites, the Blackwoods perform many old time country tunes that is sure to delight the family. The show is top notch entertainment suitable for the entire family. A hearty breakfast is served and souvenir photos with family members are available for purchase.
