Gatlinburg Police Warning of Scam
Posted by Michael Williams on June 18, 2012 - 9:54am
The Gatlinburg Police Department is warning customers of the Sevier County Electric Service of a scam that has victimized local buinesses.
According to the GPD,someone has been calling local businesses and telling them that their electricity is about to be turned off due to non-payment and giving the Sevier County Electric System's phone number as a call back number! THIS IS A SCAM! The GPD advises customers to not give their debit or credit card number to this person. This person is using the name of Jay Shephard. This is NOT THE ELECTRIC COMPANY making these calls.
If you should receive a call you should contact the police.
