Penny Sutton, Sevier County educator and president of Sevier County Professional Educators of Tennessee, has been elected statewide to join the Professional Educators of Tennessee Board of Directors in Franklin, Tennessee.  Welcoming Ms. Sutton to the Board, Professional Educators, state president Cathy Kolb stated: “Penny Sutton is a dedicated classroom teacher and a strong advocate of children and educators. We are very proud to have her join the very distinguished men and women who guide Professional Educators of Tennessee.”

Professional Educators of Tennessee members strongly believe that parental, business and community collaboration is the defining element of a quality public education system. PET chooses to work in a respectful, dignified manner, bringing educators and the public together so as to advocate the importance of quality education to our elected leaders in a positive fashion and keep public education a priority across the state.

Penny Sutton is an active member of First Baptist Church, Sevierville. She taught Sunday school for four years and has been very involved with the youth and single’s ministry. She serves as a leader in the church’s C.A.R.E. Ministry, and she is a member of Tennessee Baptist Disaster Relief.  Penny has two sons, Matthew and Eric.

Ms. Sutton was Teacher of the Week on WBIR, Channel 10 in Knoxville in 2009. Her recent interview with the Knoxville News Sentinel detailed SCPET acquiring a seat during collaborative conferencing and has helped to expand PET awareness in East Tennessee. She has an A.S. (Walters State); B.S. (Carson Newman College); M.Ed. (University of Tennessee); and an Ed.S. (Lincoln Memorial University).
