Sevier County Election Results
Incumbent state Representative Richard Montgomery lost in his bid for reelection in the GOP Primary, for the district 12 seat, in the state house of representatives, Thursday to businessman Dale Carr. Montgomery lost to Carr earning 49 percent of the vote to Carr’s 51 percent.
Incumbent State Senator Doug Overbey won a resounding mandate over challenger Scott Hughes winning 61 percent of the vote to Hughes’ 39 percent in the state senate district 2 race.
Local attorney Andrew Farmer won the State House GOP nomination in the state house of representative District 17. Farmer won 52 percent of the vote defeating Roger Griffith who won 44 percent and Larry Boggs who garnered 4 percent in the state house of representatives district 17 race.
Farmer will face Mike Dockery, who won the democratic nomination, in the November general election.
Karen Cotter won a resounding victory over challenger Rod Loveday in the race for the Sevier County Clerk. Cotter won 82 percent of the vote to Loveday’s 18 percent.
