Printer-friendly versionPrinter-friendly versionSend to friendSend to friendSevierville, Tennessee – The Southern League announced an addition to the upcoming All-Star Game in Zebulon, NC on Monday July 14th, with the Tennessee Smokies’ outfielder Doug Deeds earning a spot on the North Division All-Star squad. Deeds will replace Chattanooga Lookouts outfielder Shaun Cumberland, who was recently called up to Triple-A Louisville. Deeds has been with the Smokies all season, anchoring the right-field position in the outfield during that time. He has been the most consistent hitter on the squad during the 2008 season, and among the team leaders in home runs (7) and RBI (38) as well. Deeds currently ranks sixth in the league in batting average at a .320 clip, helping to spark the Smokies offense during their recent 2nd half turnaround. His season was highlighted by a ninth inning walk off home run with two out to propel the Smokies to a come from behind 6-5 win over the Huntsville Stars on July 2nd. 2008 Statistics: As of 7/8/08
