TSB travel club visits Ireland
June 27, 2008 - Members of Tennessee State Bank’s Super 60s and Super Partners recently took a ten day trip to Ireland. The adventure began in Limerick where the group enjoyed a medieval banquet at the historic Bunratty Castle, a visit to the fabled Cliff’s of Moher and on to the quaint village of Galway. A day was spent enjoying a drive around the Ring of Kerry, one of the most beautiful coastal routes in the world.
The group then made their way along the southern tip of the island and journeyed to the Blarney Castle. Many in the group kissed the famous Blarney Stone that is said to give the gift of eloquence. After a stop in Midleton to tour the Jameson Whiskey Distillery, the travelers enjoyed a visit to Waterford, home of the famous Waterford Crystal. The group enjoyed watching the artisans cut the crystal to make the intricate designs that make it so popular.
One of the most endearing experiences of the trip was a stay at Cabra Castle. While at the castle, a double rainbow revealed itself. While no pot of gold was found, those who saw the beauty of the rainbow in the setting of the Irish countryside witnessed a moment to cherish.
Dublin, situated on the east coast of the Emerald Isle, is the largest city in Ireland. The last two days were spent in this city where some elected to enjoy a game of golf, while others enjoyed time in the historic area of the city to shop, view the Book of Kells, and visit the National Museum.
“This trip offered a real ‘feel’ for Ireland,” said Lisa Radmore, trip coordinator for Tennessee State Bank, “We had a wonderful guide that was brilliant at conveying how the country’s history had shaped the people and nation. We were offered the opportunity to visit a family farm where the owner of the land opened his home and heart to us. It’s no wonder people say ‘Everyone is Irish…or wish they were.’ The people make you feel like you are coming home for a visit.”
Tennessee State Bank offers trips to customers who are members of the Super 60s or who are age 50 or better with a Super Partners checking account. Upcoming trips being offered include a trip to Tunica, Mississippi and Graceland in October. For more details about traveling with Tennessee State Bank, visit any branch or call 453-0873.
